Abstract
Calcific uremic arteriopathy or calciphylaxis is a rare condition. The condition is fatal, with high mortality. A multidisciplinary approach is essential and useful in such patients. The aim of this work is to review the therapeutic options for calcific uremic arteriopathy. And to provide a smooth and applicable reference for a multidisciplinary team treating patients with calcific uremic arteriopathy.
To reach our aim we searched PubMed, Medline, the Cochrane Library, and Embase for calcific uremic arteriopathy and calciphylaxis.
We conclude that calcific uremic arteriopathy is a life-threatening condition. There is no consensus on a unified management protocol. In such a situation, we have to apply our basic sciences knowledge and treat patients accordingly to provide a clear plan and enroll such patients in studies to end up with clear
Biography
Ahmed Al Ameer
completed his MBBS in 2003, he started his Saudi board in general surgery in
the same year of graduation. He completed his Saudi board in general surgery in
October 2008. In January 1 2011 he joined Saudi board for subspeciality (breast
and endocrine surgery) in king Faisal specialist hospital and research center
he got his degree as a subspecialist in December 31 2012. He worked in military
hospital southern region since then until July 2018 when he joined university
of Bisha surgical department as assistant professor of surgery. He is the vice
dean for higher education and scientific research in college of medicine. He is
Saudi board training program director of general surgery in the 5th
sector in KSA and examiner in Saudi commission of health specialty. He had published several articles on his
specialty and a book.
