Non-invasive prenatal testing:results in 3733 cases of twin pregnancy and association with factors such as age
Abstract
To explore the clinical significance of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) for fetal chromosomal abnormalities in twin pregnancies and its relationship with maternal age and other related factors, a total of 3,733 women with twin pregnancies at 12–26⁺⁶ weeks’ gestation who voluntarily underwent NIPT at Ningbo University Affiliated Women and Children's Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were selected. We found that NIPT demonstrates high accuracy in diagnosing chromosomal abnormalities in twin pregnancies, with high sensitivity and specificity across different maternal ages and gestational weeks, particularly for trisomy 21, 18, and 13. NIPT is applicable to both assisted and natural pregnancies and holds significant clinical value.
