Title: Patient satisfaction with electronic health records: Results from a Survey of Moroccan Patients in Mohammed VI oncology center

Abstract

Background: electronic health records (EHR) allowed physicians to access to patients informations in order to enhance the quality of care,  a lot of studies has interested to the satisfaction and perception of oncology patients concerning EHR in many countries . in our knowledge this is the first moroccan study on patients satisfaction with EHR in a university oncology center. 

Methods:  A cross-sectional survey was conducted with patients who consulting in Mohammed VI oncology center . 297 patients was called to complete a structured questionnaire with multiple choice questions. 

Results: 189 patients answered questions , 175 women (92,59%) and 14 men (7,41%). 183 patients were satisfied because of improved communication and health care. The EHR also improved patient hospital course ,163 patients (86,24%) was satisfied from reception and relation with caregivers. 158 responders noticed that the consultation time was optimized after instauration of EHR and their informations were preserved. 81 patients preferred the presential check up. 

Conclusions: EHR had significativly improved the quality of care and confidentiality of records in Mohammed VI oncology center. our study evaluated the possibility of allowing patients to view their medical notes to achieve the goal of involving patients as active decision-makers in their own treatment. Based of the results of this study , EHR need to be generalized in all moroccan hospitals.

Biography

Nezha Tawfiq obtained her PHD at the age of 36 from Hassan II University, Morocco. She is the second professor after the head of department in the Mohemmed VI oncology centre for cancer treatment. She has published more than 120 articles in renowned journals. she is interested in computer science and artificial intelligence in the medical field to improve patient care and facilitate the activity of caregivers.
